Check out the full latest changes in VMX Pulsar hereVMX PULSAR – The latest VMX release is perhaps more revolution than evolution. 50% of the entire VMX system has been re-coded from the ground up, boasting more features, much faster performance and brand new capabilities….
VMX CLOUD – TRUE AUDIO PROCESSING:
VMX 2.3 for the first time ever brings true audio processing, selected Music Packs have VMX Cloud access (Exploration Pack & Expedition Artemis at time of writing) which allows you to issue the “super slow this” command whilst listening to the music pack. VMX Pulsar will then send your request off to the cloud for processing and within a few seconds you will receive a download stream of the current track slowed down 50-300% with various FX parameters also applied, all in real-time, audio processed in the cloud. Each track has many possible variations which will differ each time you use it. VMX Cloud provides real audio processing from the cloud, rather than switching mixes like mix variants. You can upgrade a music pack to VMX Cloud access at any time, so if you wish to buy a standard music pack and later wish to add VMX Cloud access, no problem.
VMX Playlists is now VMX User Music:
VMX Playlists no longer makes sense given the new capabilities for your user supplied music. VMX 2.3 now allows you to drop in audio tracks as well as playlists into ‘VMXPlaylistsAndTracks’, as of release you can add mp3, .ogg, .wav, .mp4 and other audio types into the new ‘VMXPlaylistsAndTracks’ folder, rather than just playlists. But wait! That’s not all! Grab and auto convert videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Odysee, LBRY, Facebook, Twitter and other networks using the new “add video to user music” command and have music from the video added to your user music pool. This audio can be accessed as if it were a playlist or regular audio file!
Support added for detecting (and allowing you to assign music to) new events, such as On Foot Exploration, On Foot Combat, SRV Combat and Taxi rides. All are supported by music packs and all can have your user music assigned to them.
Music to Event Grouping:
VMX has long allowed users to assign playlists to in game events, such as ‘docking’, ‘combat’, ‘exploration’ and dozens of others, which is great, but what if your mood changes occasionally and maybe you’d like to have a different bunch of playlists/audio/YouTube/Vimeo etc music assigned to events. Now you can have multiple Music to Event groups with custom group names each with their own music to event assignments. For example, you could have a group called ‘ambient music’ and within that group have ambient style playlists, audio files and YouTube music as the source music, you could create a second group perhaps called ‘film music’ and assign a bunch of film music tracks to events in that group, by simply saying “set group ambient music” or “set group film music” you can switch all active music to event assignments from one to the other. You can have up to 6 groups in total, powerfully query and sort the groups and may name each group anything you wish.
As mentioned above, you can now add audio files (.mp3, .ogg, .wav, flac etc), playlists, YouTube music as well as Vimeo, LBRY, Odyssee, Twitch, Facebook music sources for use within VMX. You can of course navigate through your playlists as always. You can navigate through playlists, jump to tracks, see album name and track listing, jump from playlist to playlist, super quickly. Same for audio files and YouTube audio et al.
Flexible, use with other VoiceAttack profiles, no problemo:
VMX can run standalone or you may use it with other VoiceAttack profiles. VMX Pulsar plays nice with other profiles.
Music Packs and Mix Variants:
Most VMX Music Packs come with mix variants allowing you to manipulate the currently playing music and change mix, want to remove percussion or vocals from a track? “Remove vocals”, “Remove percussion”. Change track’s key? “Play track with key up”. Hear the same track in different ways! Hours of fun and possibilities with this very unique system.
Space Suit Mode:
Obsidian Unity Pro users can now enable/disable ‘space suit mode’. This switches on/off Artemis space suit sound fx, it gives a feeling that your voice feedback is coming from the space suit’s helment. Sound FX such as radio crackle, distortion and pitch affecting Sideband radio style FX are also present occasionally adding even further to immersion. There is also an automatic mode for Space Suit Mode, with this set, VMX will attempt to ascertain when you are on foot (and using the space suit) and when you’re on board ship and auto switch Space Suit mode on/off accordingly.
Another very powerful and unique system. Hybrid Audio Blocks is a procedural system within the Exploration Pack which chains together and layers procedural audio snippets to build ever evolving soundscapes and ambient music, you’ll get something different every time and it will generate dozens, if not hundreds of hours of beautiful music for you.
Brand New Pack Management and update system for VMX 2.3:
VMX 2.3 has a brand new update notification system, the new update notification system checks for updates after startup has completed boosting startup performance. VMX Update itself, which downloads and installs VMX updates automatically for you, has also been overhauled. It’s now much quicker at downloading updates.
As always, you can control your music with standard “play music”, “stop music”, “pause music”, “fast forward”, “rewind”, “volume up/down”, “volume <1-100> percent” commands. Playback response has been greatly improved in VMX Pulsar, control and responsiveness is now VERY rapid!
Choose from Obsidian Unity Pro, featuring both Holly (Unity) voiceovers and Obsidian Ant (which you can enable/disable at any time). Unity Pro features the full Unity voice expansion, plus Obsidian Ant voiceovers for player control and feedback. Obsidian Unity Pro also features space suit FX for use with Odyssey. The standard Unity Voice Expansion features just Unity voice and does not contain space suit FX or Obsidian Ant voice overs.
Attention to detail:
From colour coded music to event management display (green shows tracks assigned to in game events, amber for empty assignment) to automatic music volume ducking when voice overs are being read back, VMX contains lots of quality of life enhancing features that just make the whole user experience that much better.
Includes printable cheatsheet with handy commands with the download.
VMX 2.3 Pulsar is by far the biggest and most ambitious update yet, grab it now!
